Ships Have Sailed is the brainchild of vocalist/guitarist, Will Carpenter. It is an indie rock band with pop undertones from L.A., and the lineup also includes drummer, Art Andranikyan. Carpenter describes the band's name not as a pessimistic reference to the idiom, "that ship has sailed," but instead as a positive perspective on the unexpected outcomes of unforeseen circumstances.

Ships Have Sailed has been featured on numerous television shows, including, but not limited to, Grey's Anatomy and Council of Dads.
